Con motivo del 10 º aniversario de su creación, Ciudades y Gobiernos Locales Unidos (CGLU), la red global que representa y defiende los intereses de los gobiernos locales y regionales en el escenario global, lanza una nueva versión de su página web, más intuitiva y moderna, con una navegación suave y contenido actualizado.
El Programa de las Naciones Unidas para los Asentamientos Humanos (ONU-Habitat) celebrará la 7ª sesión del Foro Urbano Mundial en Medellín, Colombia, el 5-11 de abril bajo el lema “Equidad Urbana en el Desarrollo – Ciudades para la Vida”. Este evento de carácter global incluirá a lo largo de la semana diversas sesiones de relevancia.
Este año, el cuarto Foro sobre Cooperación para el Desarrollo de la ONU (UN-DCF) tendrá lugar en julio en Nueva York y se centrará en un diálogo global sobre el futuro de la cooperación al desarrollo en la era post-2015. Cada dos años, el Consejo Económico y Social de las Naciones Unidas celebra este Foro.

United Cities and Local Governments Middle East and West Asia Section (UCLG-MEWA), which is the umbrella organization of the local and regional authorities and their unions operating in the Middle East and West Asia region, has initiated talks in which academics and experts in the field of “local authorities” will participate.
The Culture Working Group, established by the joint Executive Bureau and Council Meeting of United Cities and Local Governments Middle East and West Asia Section, was convened on 19 December 2013 in Konya. Representatives from various municipalities made reference to the difficulties encountered by local authorities in terms of organizing culture-art events.
“We should not keep thinking the city in its administrative borders. A future EU urban agenda should facilitate the access and active involvement of all types of cities - small, medium-sized and large cities - in the policy making process in relevant subjects and areas,” said CEMR President, Annemarie Jorritsma.

The UCLG Local Finance and Development Committee has just published a study on “Capturing Land Values: a route to financing urban investment in Africa?” conducted in partnership with the Global Fund for Cities Development, and with the contribution of UCLG Africa, SCET, AFD, the French Ministry.
En el marco del VII Foro Urbano Mundial, que tendrá lugar en Medellín (Colombia) del 5 al 11 de abril de 2014, la Comisión de Inclusión Social, Democracia Participativa y Derechos Humanos de CGLU co-organizará diferentes actividades.
CGLU, en colaboración con instituciones académicas, ONG´s, agencias de desarrollo y donantes, fomenta la cooperación técnica entre las ciudades y sus asociaciones con el fin de optimizar formas de apoyo para la profesionalización de la cooperación descentralizada, particularmente entre las ciudades en el sur.

As part of the OWG 8 session in New-York this week, Member States, Major Groups and stakeholders will discuss the issue of equality, in particular gender equality and women empowerment. UCLG, building on its longstanding work on the topic and convinced that a successful Post 2015 agenda needs acknowledging these issues.
