As part of its campaign to support local governments on child-sensitive responses to migration and displacement, UNICEF has launched a guide with child protection measures in the context of COVID-19.
The guide COVID-19 and Migrant and Displaced Children: What Local Governments Can Do? compiles initiatives from different cities around the world that have implemented policies including children and youth in all phases of emergency response and recovery efforts.The guide also proposes a toolkit for social frontline workers and a series of practical recommendations for risk communication and community engagement for migrants, refugees and host communities.
UNICEF and UCLG have strengthened their partnership to promote inclusive perspectives that take children into account at the local level. In addition, the two organizations work together on the follow up and implementation of the Global Compact for Migration through their involvement in several working groups of the United Nations Migration Network (UNMN), where UNICEF is part of the Executive Committee
