A new app has been released on what local governments need to know about the SDGs

Our new mobile and tablet application is now available and contains everything local governments need to know about the 17 Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). The application will officially be presented at European Development Days (EDD) in Brussels on 15-16 June, however you can download it now from Google Play and the App Store.

The app will help you discover how each one of the 17 Sustainable Development Goals is directly related to the daily work of local and regional governments. With the interactive format you can be actively involved and see the important work being done by local and regional governments to achieve the SDGs.

For each goal, you will understand why local governments should not simply be viewed as the implementing bodies of the Agenda. Local and regional governments are indeed important policy-makers and catalysts for change and are best positioned to link the global goals to local communities.

The app’s content is based on this publication: “The Sustainable Development Goals: What Local Governments Need to Know

Come and see us at European Development Days and find out why the SDGs are important!

The app will be promoted at European Development Days 2016, held in Brussels on 15-16 June, where UCLG will have a stand dedicated to the role of local governments as catalysts for change and key implementing bodies in the Agenda for Sustainable Development.

Over the two days, you will gain a better understanding of why sub-national governments are key partners in sustainable development through interactive games, presentations, videos and other formats. All this will take place in an environment where a large section of the development and international cooperation community will be present, sharing ideas and experiences to address the greatest challenges of sustainable development.
