Applications open for Resilient City learning program (Sept 6-24)

UCLG, Metropolis, and the Seoul Human Resources Development Center (SHRDC), with the collaboration of UCLG-ASPAC, join efforts to organize a “Resilient City” online training, building on the experience of the Seoul Metropolitan Government and the Resilience Learning Modules developed by UCLG together with UNDRR and UN-Habitat.

More than half of the world’s population resides in urban and metropolitan areas, with many cities still experiencing rapid growth and urbanization. In the last two years, local and metropolitan governments have come to the forefront of the response to the COVID-19 pandemic, undertaking innovative initiatives to address the crisis. This has highlighted the critical role of local public services and the importance of developing integrated emergency governance and disaster risk reduction (DRR) strategies.

The online course, taking place from September 6th to the 24th, 2021, will combine self-paced learning through video lectures focusing on Seoul’s resilience strategies, with three live online sessions (on September 9, 16 and 23, from 10:00-12:00 CEST) in which participants will have the opportunity to engage in facilitated discussions, reflections and dynamics with their peers, learning from other cities’ experiences.

Public officials of UCLG, Metropolis and UCLG-ASPAC members are invited to apply for enrollment before August 16th, 2021. Participation in groups of 2 or more public officials from the same local government is highly encouraged to allow for deeper contextual group work and discussions.
